Due to the coronavirus crisis, this year’s flyover will be dedicated to the nation’s hospitals, saluting the healthcare system, medical staff and nurses, and will consist of only four Beechcraft T-6 Texan II aircraft. These airplanes are used in the air force training schools for soon-to-be pilots, Hebrew-language outlet N12 reported. The flyby will begin in the Tel Aviv area, then fly up north to Nahariya and Safed, to be followed by a turn to Israel’s most southern point of Eilat, and will end its route back in the center, according to the IAF. The aerial demonstration is expected to end at 3:50 pm (Israel Standard Time), according to The Times of Israel, above the Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheva. The IAF acrobatic crew sent a message to Israeli President Reuven Rivlin, saying “we are proud to be saluting from the air as a medal of appreciation to the [medical] teams and health system. We wish good health and a happy Independence Day to you and all the people of Israel,” N12 reported.
