📚💙 A Story, a Smile, and Lots of Love 💙📚
An inspiring personal blog by Tamar Gebara, a participant at Israel Elwyn’s Adult Day Center in Ashkelon, about the small moments that warm her heart—and one very special volunteer experience that brings generations together through stories, hugs, and simple love.
“I tell stories, I act them out, and together with the children I create a different kind of experience—not just hearing a story, but becoming part of it,” she writes.

Ahead of World Autism Awareness Day – One Story Among Many at Israel Elwyn 💙
Meet Eldad Goldtzin, who joined our Jerusalem Employment Training program this past September. Eldad is a person on the autism spectrum who is on a meaningful journey of growth and inclusion, while courageously navigating real-life challenges.
Since joining the program, he’s taken part in a wide range of courses, professional trainings, and seminars—and even completed a unique course at the prestigious Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem. Alongside his studies, Eldad also volunteers at Hadassah Ein Kerem and the Philip Leon Community Center, weaving community giving into his daily routine.
As part of his contribution, he also leads health-related activities for his peers—creating engaging presentations together with his instructor, Yoram, using artificial intelligence.
🧠💙 Eldad’s story is a beautiful reminder that with the right support and guidance, every person has the potential to grow, thrive, and make a difference in the world.

💙 World Down Syndrome Day – Meet Yossi Doster 💙
Last Friday, people around the world marked World Down Syndrome Day—and we’d like to take a moment to introduce you to Yossi Doster, an incredible individual who proves that there are no limits to what can be achieved! 🚀
Yossi immigrated to Israel from Iran at the age of one, and ever since, he’s been breaking barriers in every area of life.
With the dedicated support of Israel Elwyn’s Job Placement Program, Yossi has gone through a meaningful journey and now works in the competitive job market—at the Golden Cookies factory in Holon. 🍪✨
What makes Yossi stand out?
He’s a hardworking and caring employee, a true friend who always notices those around him. If a coworker is struggling, Yossi is the first to lend a hand. 💪🏼💙
💡 A memorable moment from his life:
At the age of 14, Yossi came home one day and couldn’t find his mother. Without hesitation, he got on a bus and made his way—on his own—to her workplace. That’s when his family realized that Yossi not only pays attention to details, but also knows how to navigate the world with impressive independence! 🚌👏
World Down Syndrome Day is more than just one day—it’s a daily reminder of the importance of recognition, inclusion, and opportunity for all.
Yossi, like so many others, proves every day that with determination and the right support, anything is possible.

Take a look at this heartwarming picture—a group of young adults who were given the opportunity, like anyone else, to serve in the army, and they are doing it brilliantly and professionally!
It’s no wonder that the Eliakim Army Base in the north was awarded the Northern Commander's Prize for the inclusion of individuals with disabilities into a variety of roles and departments at the base.
The base is a symbol and a model of true social and national cooperation, recognizing the abilities of individuals and bringing dozens of young people into meaningful military service every year.
The army, along with the Ministry of Welfare and Social Affairs, proudly leads these important and groundbreaking initiatives. In recent years, we have witnessed the inclusion of many young adults with disabilities into the IDF. It is important to understand the significance of military service for young adults with disabilities, especially in Israeli society, where enlistment is a crucial social status symbol that greatly influences their future.
If you know any young adults with disabilities who received an exemption from the army and are interested in enlisting, contact us, and we will support them all the way through their enlistment and during their military service.
Israel Elwyn operates the "Inclusion in Uniform " program with funding and supervision from the Ministry of Welfare and Social Affairs. The program is also generously supported by the Bnai Zion Foundation.
