You can thank us later - the secret to never waiting at the wrong stop again

Published: February 6, 2020

Companies have one of two choices to make when deciding what features to create next for their product. Either guess what users want and try to make the right decision, or engage with them to find out what their needs are.

Understanding customers, their needs, challenges, and pain points cannot be emphasized enough. Listening to user feedback, and especially understanding the root cause of it is one of the values we pride ourselves on at Moovit. It has been the source of inspiration for many features such as “Bus on Map” which displays a bus icon moving on the map in real-time so users can track their bus as it moves along its journey.

We genuinely listen to our users’ in-app and urban mobility experiences. Such was the case with a loyal Moovit user that recently left her feedback on a humorous Facebook page, garnering lots of attention: “A feature that I need for Moovit: Cross the street, stupid. This isn’t the right side.”

We took this feedback seriously during our 24 hour Moovithon, where our developers created the beginnings of Way Finder. Now rolling out to iOS users around the globe, Way Finder places digital directions and signs on top of a live camera view to make it even easier to locate correct bus stops, subway station entrances, and provide overall extra guidance.

To activate the feature, simply go to Settings, click on Labs and select Way Finder. Using it is easy. Just like any other time you plan a trip using Moovit, input your destination, select a Suggested Route, and then:

  1. Tap on the “Navigate” button to start Live Directions
  2. Tap on the blue Way Finder button
  3. Hold the phone up to the surrounding environment and Way Finder will begin

In Way Finder mode, the top half of the screen displays icons, and signs overlaid on a live camera view, with left and right turn arrows to indicate direction. The bottom half of the screen shows where a user is on the map.

Our mission is to help you get to your destination in the most convenient way, so we want to ensure that we can tailor this solution based on your needs. That’s why we are releasing this version in beta.

Your feedback is important to us, and we’d like to hear from you following your Way Finder session via a feedback pop-up. Help us in our mission to simplify urban mobility and make getting to any destination a better experience. Try Way Finder today and let us know what you think.
