Social distancing is becoming part of everyday life.
Nevertheless some people do take it to an extreme, see
photo attached, Further, slowly an element of the former
lifestyle is returning to routine as in our village we are much
more flexible in being able to go for simple day to day tasks
such as shopping, banking and even hiking in nature.
However, we must not be complacent as the Canadian
example shows us. In July, the Canadian province of
Manitoba went two weeks without a single new case of COVID-19. Theaters
and casinos reopened and children soon returned to school.
By October, the 1.4 million people living in a province only slightly smaller
geographically than Texas had Canada’s highest rate of active cases - now
512 per 100,000 people, or nearly quadruple the national rate.
Here in Israel, there is a report of the number on the number of infections
increasing, also the number of intubated patients. There is talk of perhaps a
third lockdown so we need to be as vigilant as possible.
Clinical psychology on your phone
I think most of us can agree that this pandemic has taken an emotional and
mental toll on us all writes Hillel Fuld. Millions of people have entered the
circle of anxiety, depression or worse.
When one takes a closer look at the mental health issue in general, and the
solutions that exist both for diagnosis and for treatment, what they find is
an area that has not evolved since mental health became an item.
Now an Israeli company GGTUDE, has developed seven apps for mobile
phones all of which are free to download. As the company puts it, “GGTUDE
is a digital mental-health platform designed to help people overcome mental
challenges and improve their lives.”

As it is 2020, GGTUDE couldn’t ignore COVID. The company’s new app, GG
Self Care, provides a research-backed, personalized digital intervention for
COVID-19-related psychological difficulties.
As many medical appointments are now held on line not at the doctor’s
surgery, this is yet another development which assists in meeting health
requirements.
Economy
In spite of corona, Israel’s economy rebounded in the third quarter of the
year, growing by an annualized 37.9%, led by a surge in consumer
spending, exports and investments, after the coronavirus pandemic hit the
economy hard in the first half of the year.
According to data published by the Central Bureau of Statistics, the
preliminary gross domestic product grew by 37.9% for the July-September
period compared to the previous quarter, well above a 24% growth forecast
in a poll of economists
