However, Israeli officials did not confirm the N12 report, according to The Times of Israel, noting only that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has met with the son of Chad’s President Idriss Déby, Abdelkarim Déby. Déby, Deputy Director of Chad's civil cabinet, arrived on Tuesday with a delegation in Israel to promote ties between the states. During the meeting with Minister Cohen, it was agreed that an Israeli delegation will visit the Muslim-majority African nation in the near future, in order to deepen the economic cooperation between the countries in general and advance agricultural and water projects in particular. According to N12, the diplomatic talks also invoked security challenges Chad is facing with Shiite militias to its borders. “The tightening of relations between Israel and Chad is a mutual interest by both states, in security matters as well as in economic ones,” Cohen concluded after the meeting.
