Haifa's new cable car is a revolotionary new transportation method. For the first time in Israel, A cable car is used for public transport. The "Rachbalit" is a 4.4 km long aerial lift streching from Haifa's bay (Hamifratz Central Station) to Haifa's university, at the top of Mt. Carmel. It connects 2 award-winning academic institutions- The Technion (Israel's MIT) and Haifa's University. It climbs 460m above sea level in a 19 minutes journey. There are 150 cabins, each can hold 10 people. There are 6 stations, but as a start only 3 are open: Hamifratz, Technion Center and University. First suggested in 1965, the dream now becomes a reality. It is made by the Austrian company Doppelmayr. I'm sorry for the terrible music, I have no idea what I thought to myself.
