Overview: OurCrowd FoodTech Fund
Since the first close in July 2023, the OurCrowd FoodTech Fund has invested in nine FoodTech startups and targets investment in food-related opportunities offered to OurCrowd investors and/or funds, subject to OurCrowd’s overall allocation in each round.
OurCrowd is among the Top 10 most active VCs globally in FoodTech deals since 2021, according to PitchBook data, and well positioned to leverage Israel’s cutting-edge leadership in FoodTech via our network of entrepreneurs, scientists, third-party funds, and in-house food incubators. OurCrowd made its first investment in the sector in 2018 in the pre-IPO financing of Beyond Meat. The company went public in May 2019, resulting in a successful exit that generated a 3.5X multiple for OurCrowd investors. Since that first investment, OurCrowd has ramped up its FoodTech portfolio investing worldwide across subsectors including alternative proteins, food waste, healthier food, and delivery robots.
OC FoodTech will continue to invest in a wide range of cutting-edge technology companies seeking to tackle the challenge of feeding the world’s fast-growing population while decarbonizing the global economy. Companies will also address new trends in culinary preferences, as well as lifestyle pressures and sustainability demands among the rising cohort of Millennials and Generation Z.
