The Buy a Piece of Israel Project connects the Nation of Israel with the Land of Israel It was a beautiful December morning in Yavniel, Lower Galilee. Several families and individuals traveled from many regions of Israel. Some were native Israelis. Others were from the United States, Canada, Russian, Belgium. South Africa, Ireland, and England. Why did they come? Most came to plant their trees on their newly purchased land. The others who came were volunteers and members of our staff and they all worked together until all the new olive trees were planted firmly in the ground. Just as they had done for the previous planting on this parcel, our farming family, the Shers, had already cleaned and prepared the area of land and drilled holes, one per each tree, within the parcel that was to be planted that day. Due to the government imposed restrictions of the pandemic, the usual after planting BBQ lunch party couldn't be held. However, a great time was had by all. It was very uplifting to witness Ultra Orthodox Jews working alongside National Religious, Jews alongside secular Jews. Soon we will be doing a 3rd and final planting on this parcel which will then total 1,116 olive trees. In a few short years after Orlah, the olives will be harvested every autumn and cold pressed into boutique, extra virgin, olive oil. All of the land owners will receive regular modest income in proportion to the size of their individual land units. Connect with the Land of Israel!
