When going to war, there are three very simple rules one must abide by.

1. Know thy enemy.
2. Be prepared to sacrifice.
3. Always wear good shoes.

After all, revenge is a dish best served in stilettos.
I’ve got an eye for it, and nothing’s going to stand in my way.
Not even Rory ‘The Saint’ Brodrick.
He’s a fool if he thinks he can change me. By the time I’m through with him, I’ll make his mafia look like child’s play.
Cross me, Mr. Brodrick?
You better cross your heart and hope to die.

***

I’m a fighter. A hustler. A mobster.
But I’ve never encountered anything like her.
She's a beauty with a beast of a heart. The poison apple I just can't resist. And in her trail she leaves a wake of men crawling on their knees.
What she doesn’t know is that I like my women wild.
It only makes it that much more fun to tame them.

I struggled at first with this one. The game they play is cute at the start but gets really annoying in the middle to the point I debated just skipping to the end. However, in the end, it was a great book. Also, Conor’s been this meak little mafia guy the other two books but he hates the FMC in this one so much that it’s given him so much personality and it’s so funny.

Love the series and this installment does not disappoint. Hero is awesome. Heroine, not so much. Had a hard time with her but that's really the point. She's pretty tortured.

THE REVIEW FOR THE BOOK: Saint
    GENRE: Mafia Romance
    AUTHOR: A. Zavarelli
TROPE: Mafia, dark romance, torture, vengeance, organized-crime
TYPE: Book #4 in the Boston Underworld series
    POV: First Person. Multiple Perspective.
    MY RATING: 4.5 Stars

This is the fourth book in the Boston Underworld series. Scarlett is a character that was introduced in the first book of the series. Around Boston, Scarlett is known as a prostitute by her friend Mack but we find out that she is actually a trick-roller. A trick-roller is a prostitute who lures rich men back to their hotel only to rob them blind. Rory is introduced to Scarlett in the first book when he’s sent to kidnap her and hold her hostage until Mack complies with Lachlan’s request. The fourth book gives the reader a deeper dive into Scarlett’s past and we find out how she came to Boston and what drove her to becoming a trick-roller. Scarlett decides she’s going to use Rory to avenge her past but she doesn’t plan on developing feelings for him.

There is a reason that Rory refers to Scarlett in this book as ‘Satan’ because she is one evil b****. This book is a far cry from the first three books in the series where the women seemed more fragile in a way. They all had their vulnerabilities about them whereas it took the men longer to come to terms with their feeling for them. This book is the complete opposite. Rory wants nothing more than to be with Scarlett and she couldn’t be bothered with him. Their banter back and forth is hilarious. I enjoyed this book just as I did the others in the series so far. The only reason why I deducted a half a star was because I found it difficult to connect with Scarlett on a deeper level. I found myself hating her most of the novel and that’s despite all she’s gone through. I felt as though Talia may have gone through a lot more and she wasn’t some crazed psychopath.

This book gave me Bonnie and Clyde vibes the whole way through. I loved the back and forth between the two characters. If you like a darker mafia romance, then you would enjoy this book. I haven’t had any issues with the books in the series so far.

Yup, this book is just as good as the others. I loved the couple, and enjoyed how the story played out. This one was quite different from the other ones, but I did love it just as much. It had the whole push pull feel, so if you aren’t a fan of that, then this probably wouldn’t be your forte, but honestly I weirdly didn’t mind it. I actually enjoyed that part as I felt that it made sense from that certain character that was causing the push pull to transpire.

On to the next one, which I’m just as excited about!

~ I can never say enough praise for the fabulous, phenomenal and insanely talented A. Zavarelli!! She has done it again!!
Saint by A. Zavarelli is the fourth book in the Boston Underworld Series and is the story of Rory and Scarlett. If you have read the previous books in this series then you are vaguely familiar with these two.

Saint, hands down, is the most intense, dark and twisted book of the series yet and I absolutely loved every bit! Like all the books in the Boston Underworld series this is a dark and dirty mafia romance that will have you begging for more. Saint is heart wrenching, steamy, action packed and full of chaos. Be prepared for a major book hangover!

Scarlett and Rory are both imperfect and complicated characters but their story is anything but. Rory ‘The Saint’ Brodrick is tough, sexy, and quite the charmer - you can’t help but love him. Scarlett, aka Satan, is the opposite of Rory. She is a revenge seeking badass, who struggles with her inner demons and someone you do not want to cross. Their relationship is a constant push, pull and the chemistry they share is excruciatingly hot and heartbreakingly beautiful. It’s the battle of Saint vs Satan and its oh so good!

“He really is Saint. And I really am the Devil.
But together, we’re a match made in heaven.”

I highly recommend that you read this book but suggest you read the previous books first (Crow, Reaper and Ghost). I suggest you read anything written by the phenomenal powerhouse that is A. Zaverelli, you will never be disappointed! Zavarelli knows how to hook you within the first sentence of her books and then she refuses to let you go, you will always need more!!

*I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

**Warning: This book may not be for everyone as it deals with some pretty heavy, dark and intense situations.

    Satan meets Saint

Shes the devil in disguise, a vigilante,a woman who is out for revenge and justice by her own rules. Scarlett is bitter, dislikes people, crowds and trusts no-one and is determined to spill the blood of the men who took her innocence when she was a girl about to embark upon adulthood, one by one.

Scarlett is the friend of Mack from book 1 even then she was a mystery and someone who you knew had a story to tell.

Rory is one of the Italian Mafia syndicate, a foot soldier of Crow, a fighter and when he is drawn to the closed off woman that is Scarlett

I loved Rory's character and I was fearful for him, a fighter with a soft heart that was about to be eaten up by Scarlett and her games, using him as a pawn in her twisted games but the Ice queen began to soften as the plot progressed.

This series is brilliant, Rory is one of my favourite characters and scarlett well, she is a total bad-ass. All female characters in this series are woman with backbone and determination. Each plot gripping, intense, hot and filled with danger and unpredictability. A captivating read from start to finish. The Boston Underworld series has become one of my favourite if not the most favourite Mafia reads.

Grittiness, danger, excitement, hotness, brilliant characters and plot. Another 5 star read for me.

Hoping for more in this series and looking forward to reading more from A Zavarelli.

Told in dual pov's can be read as a stand alone but highly recommend starting from the beginning with Crow.

    * Listened on audio and the narration is brilliant, Tracy Marks with her Irish accent and transition from Male to Female roles is outstanding.

Maybe I've read too many stories one after the other on the Boston Underworld so I did not seem particularly original.
Scarlett is a strong heroine, but I didn't like her all the time.
Saint was a saint, "di nome e di fatto" I would say in Italian, which means by name and by nature.

    Audible: Narrator – Tracy Marks

I cannot say how much this narrator has impressed the heck out of me!!! She has done an absolutely outstanding job on all of the books in this series and this is just another that allows her talent to outshine any other narrator I’ve listened to. With each book I am constantly amazed at the talent this narrator has utilized to bring the story and characters to life. There is never any confusion over who is talking, never a cringe as she speaks in a male voice and always bliss when the book ends. Although I will admit, even when completed I continue to hear her voice in my head when I pick up my next book to read instead of listen. Lol. I learned with the previous books to dial the speed down just a tad and sit back to enjoy the whole experience.

OMG!!! A. Zavarelli did it again! She totally took me out of my world and plonked me down smack dab in the middle of the Boston underground. It’s raw and gritty, violent and passionate, dark and dangerous but most of all, real.

Scarlett is probably one of the most broken heroine I’ve ever read. She wouldn’t admit that but it’s true. She has a past that is a diverse as the roles she steps into when she takes her place on the streets or the bars at night. As a child she never fit the mold her mother wanted to force her into. As an adult she will be anything you want her to be.

Rory has had a thing for Scarlett from the beginning. But she is one crazy woman. She’s his Satan. His temptation. And no matter how many steps toward her he takes, she turns the tables before taking twice as many steps away.

I absolutely loved Rory! Oh my gawd, my heart broke for him at times when Scarlett was so caught up in what she was compelled to do that it left him wounded and bleeding in her shadow. I wasn’t sure if he was ever going to be able to reach inside her and start to help her heal. Scarlett couldn’t even recognize emotion. She had lived her life with a flatline. Never a fluctuation. Never a waver. Never a curve. Until Rory insistently pushes himself into her life. Then the line is anything but straight and I loved watching her come alive.

This is an incredible read! It is full of emotion, anger, lust, passion and in the end, love. The secondary characters help to support the storyline as well as the main characters without overshadowing them and the steam factor goes from zero to sixty within a blink of an eye with these two.

I freaking love this series and can’t wait for the next!

I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator.

After each book that I finish in this series, I'm already wanting the next one coz this series has outdone itself with each book. This book took us on Scarlett's journey of opening her heart for her hero Rory and Rory finally winning his little hell raiser.. This book was more intense and dark, I was so curious as I wanted to know, how a girl like Scarlett can fall in love coz reading about her tough character, it was just impossible to believe it.. yet as always Authors have magic in their words and Ms. Zavarelli has it in spades... I want to now read about storm and booker and see them get their book... Loved this one 😍
